If you’ve seen Al Gore’s movie An Inconvenient Truth, you know global warming is real.  Rather than solving this problem, Republicans simply deny it exists and tells the scientists they are wrong.  Democrats will listen to scientists, stop giving corporate welfare to Big Oil companies and invest in practical, clean, renewable energy. 

At a time when college tuition is already 40% higher, the Republicans cut $12 in student aid and increased student loan interest rates by 50%.  This makes no sense, especially when Republicans find enough money for millionaire tax breaks left and right.  Democrats will restore fixed interest rates and increase student aid so more people our age can attend college without graduating (or dropping out) consumed with debt. 

Republicans continue to use 9/11 to scare us, but won’t take the necessary steps to secure our homeland.  Six years after 9/11, Republicans have yet to implement the bipartisan 9/11 Commission recommendations.  The failed Republican response to Katrina was a powerful sign that our government is still not prepared for a disaster.  Democrats will implement what the bipartisan Commission suggests and truly make America safe and secure. 

Our generation is the largest group of the uninsured.  Under Republican leadership over 46 million people live without insurance.  Democrats will develop a universal healthcare system that benefits all of us and ensures fair treatment of all health problems, no matter what the large insurance companies say. 

Too many of us, young and old, are trying to make ends meet on minimum wage and coming up short.  Republicans have not raised minimum wage since they have been in power and have the worst record of job creation in over 40 years.  Democrats are committed to implementing a living wage and creating good jobs that provide for our families. 

Our generation is the one fighting in Iraq, yet we don’t know why we are still there or why we went there to begin with.  Republicans say Iraq is getting safer, but we know it is a lie.  They say we have to “stay the course” even though we know it isn’t working.  It’s time to demand a redeployment plan.  Democratic leaders will change course, work with other countries, bring our soldiers home and allow Iraq to stand on its own democracy.
