President to be elected from Orange County. Two other members of
the Orange County Young Democrats were also elected to the CYD
executive board. Lindsay Hopkins was elected Vice President of
Finance and Chris Roa was elected Region Director.

This award was presented because of the work done during the 2006
election. The Orange County Young Democrats focused on peer to
peer campaigning in order to convince people ages 14 to 35 to vote
Democratic in the 34th Senate District. Thousands of
voters were contacted in what was last year’s most competitive state
senate race.
Melahat Rafiei, the Political
Director for the Democratic Party of Orange County, and a member of the
Orange County Young Democrats, won the 2007 John F. Kennedy, Jr. Award.
The John F. Kennedy Award is awarded by the California Democratic Party
to a young person age 14 – 35 years old.
