Orange County Young Democrats Withdraw Their Endorsement of Hoa Van Tran

Young Democrats React to Transgressions Within Candidate’s Campaign

SANTA ANA, CA – The Orange County Young Democrats have chosen to withdraw their endorsement of Hoa Van Tran for the First Supervisorial District, citing the questionable connections of several staff members on the campaign.

Hoa Van Tran is the Democratic candidate running for the Orange County Board of Supervisors First District. Tran’s campaign recently came under fire as a result of misconduct related to his staff and has set back Democratic outreach efforts in the Vietnamese community.

“Our organization placed our trust in Tran in the belief that he would run a clean and honest campaign for Supervisor.  His campaign staff’s behavior is embarrassing the reputation Democrats have in reaching out to minority groups in Orange County.  Therefore, we are withdrawing our endorsement of him for the First Supervisorial District election.”

Bensley went on to say, “Our endorsement means little if we support any and all Democrats, regardless of their merits.  We are not blind partisans that willfully disregard wrongdoing within a campaign.  We look forward to supporting a candidate for Supervisor that can genuinely represent the issues that young people are concerned with in the future.”

The Orange County Young Democrats are an active part of local Democratic politics and strive to encourage progressive political activism and participation among young people ages 14 to 35.  For more information please visit www.OCYD.net.
