SANTA ANA, CA – The
Orange County Young Democrats have elected a new Executive Board to
serve through the 2007 – 2008 term.
Jason Bensley, was elected to serve as
the new Chair of the Orange County Young Democrats, Aaruni Thakur was
elected Vice Chair, Erin Gardner was elected Finance Chair, and Chris
Roa was elected Communications Chair.
The Executive Board will serve
for the next year, which will include the 2008 California Presidential
Primary. The new Executive Board will have the responsibility of
encouraging young people in Orange County to vote in the presidential
primary, which has been moved up to February of 2008.
“It is not easy running an
organization completely made up of young people. Our membership is
constantly changing. Young people are always on the move aiming for new
goals,” said Ferial Govashiri, the outgoing Chair of the Orange County
Young Democrats. “Jason, Aaruni, Erin and Chris individually have
proven time and time again that they are committed to making our
organization stronger. I am excited to see the product of their
combined effort especially during such an important time for
Democrats.”
The Orange County Young
Democrats are an active part of local Democratic politics and strive to
encourage political activism and participation among young people ages
14 to 35.
