SANTA ANA, CA – The
Orange County Young Democrats have voted to endorse Jordan Brandman for
the upcoming special election for the Anaheim Union High School
District.
The AUHSD will be holding a
special election due to a recall effort that came as a response to the
appointment of Harald Martin. Martin was appointed to the board
to fill a vacancy earlier this year. His appointment was
controversial due to his losing elections to the board in 2004 and
2006. Martin also holds many extreme views which are out of touch
with the needs of his constituents.
Jordan Brandman is currently a
candidate for the AUHSD special election on February 5, 2008.
Brandman works as a Director for an Environmental Planning and
Consulting Firm. Brandman previously worked as a policy advisor
in the Governor's Office of the Secretary for Education.
“Jordan will make a great addition to the AUHSD board of
trustees,” said Jason
Bensley, the chair of the Orange County Young Democrats. “He will bring fiscal responsibility to AUHSD and
put the focus back on educating students and preparing them for
the next step.”
The Orange County Young
Democrats are an active part of local Democratic politics and strive to
encourage progressive political activism and participation among young
people ages 14 to 35.
