Orange County Young Democrats Applaud California Supreme Court for Upholding the Freedom to Marry

Young Democrats Celebrate Supreme Court Overturning State Ban On Gay Marriage

SANTA ANA, CA – The Orange County Young Democrats have come out in support of the California Supreme Court’s ruling which has overturned the state’s ban on gay marriage yesterday.

By overturning the ban on gay marriage the California Supreme Court has allowed California to become the second state where gay and lesbian residents can enjoy the same rights of marriage that others currently do.

“This is an important step forward towards providing the freedom to marry for all,” said Jason Bensley, Chair of the Orange County Young Democrats.  “As the Chair of the Orange County Young Democrats, an organization which has always prided itself on supporting marriage equality, I couldn’t be prouder to be a Californian right now.  The Orange County Young Democrats will continue to fight for marriage equality in the future.”

The Orange County Young Democrats are an active part of local Democratic politics and strive to encourage progressive political activism and participation among young people ages 14 to 35.
